C. F. Martin / C.H. Gaskins Harp Mandolin

This harp mandolin was produced for C.H. Gaskins & Co. of nearby Shamokin, Pennsylvania in 1901.

The example in the Martin Museum and reproduced on page 199 of the "New Longworth" book was previously thought to be the only one known to exist.

This mandolin precedes other flat back Martin mandolins by nearly 15 years, and predates similar looking Dyer harp mandolins with "hollow arms" produced by the Larson Brothers by a decade.
